Underground extension
Paleis Het Loo has a new masterpiece: an underground extension with a floor area of 5000 m2. From 2018 to 2023 the forecourt of Paleis het Loo was a deep construction pit. It was a huge project, with technical challenges and an astonishing feat of planning. Hundreds of specialists, both staff of Paleis Het Loo and external contractors, worked on the architectural masterpiece. Every detail was meticulously planned, documented, executed and adjusted. Hear the sounds. Smell the aromas and feel the materials. Look around you and become part of ‘Orange Blossom’, a huge artwork featuring life-size blossom and leaves, made by Linda Nieuwstad. Linda Nieuwstad designs floral artworks made of fabric. Her design uses remnants of wallpaper from the palace, truck tarpaulin – many trucks came and went during the whole operation – and gleaming white silk. Orange Blossom is part of Masterpiece.
