King Willem-Alexander
Willem-Alexander is the oldest son of Princess Beatrix (as she had not ascended the throne yet at the time of his birth) and Prince Claus. He was followed by two younger brothers, Johan Friso and Constantijn. The engagement of Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Máxima Zorreguieta was announced in 2001. The couple subsequently visited every province in the country to introduce Máxima to the Dutch public. The couple married in Amsterdam in 2002.
The King and Queen have three daughters: Catharina-Amalia, Alexia and Ariane. Willem-Alexander was invested as king on 30 April 2013. His oldest daughter Catharina-Amalia became crown princess, with the title ‘Princess of Orange’.
