Movie Nights

In collaboration with Gigant, a cultural centre in Apeldoorn, three films are screened. Each film has a royal connection. Sometimes, as in Howl’s Moving Castle and The Grand Budapest Hotel, this comes through in a playful nod to palace architecture.

Popcorn and a drink are included with your ticket.

Programme

From 7:00 pm: Doors open, with live music

8:00 pm: Film screening, preceded by a short introduction from a curator at Paleis Het Loo:

Pride and Prejudice
Curator Eden Brüninghaus explores the costumes, class distinctions and generational differences between the characters. The costumes are not only beautiful, they also play an important role in telling the story.

The Grand Budapest Hotel
Curator Paul Rem discusses the hotel's architecture and interiors, highlighting similarities with and inspirations drawn from the palace. He also explains how the interiors and the role of the staff contribute to an atmosphere of status and grandeur.

Howl’s Moving Castle
No building stays the same forever. As new residents arrive and existing residents grow older or change, buildings evolve too. The same is true of Howl’s castle and of Paleis Het Loo. Join Programme Maker Eline Alberts for an interactive introduction exploring these parallels.

11:00 pm: End of the evening.
