Work in progress bassecour

On the bassecour (forecourt in front of the palace), work is ongoing on the glass parterres.

The palace and the bassecour

On the bassecour, the palace forecourt, work is being carried out on the glass parterres. These will last until Friday, November 8, 2024.

What are they working on?

A new joint is being made between the glass and the roofing of the water ponds. As this work has to be carried out completely dry, a tent has been erected. The work will be completed in two phases.

In the first phase, work is being carried out on the two rear glass parterres. Once this work is complete, the second phase will involve work on the front two glass parterres. The marquee will then also be placed forward.

Accessibility bassecour

The bassecour will remain accessible to visitors. Only the work area is recognisably cordoned off and will not be accessible then.

Visitors can photograph the palace through the steps. And, of course, the image of the palace, including the golden gate, can be photographed from the garden.
