Managing director
Michel van Maarseveen has been managing director of Paleis Het Loo since 2012. He studied history at Leiden University, with a minor in art history. After graduation he worked as a curator specialising in the history of the Dutch royal family at Museum Het Prinsenhof in Delft, and then became director of the Haags Historisch Museum and Museum De Gevangenpoort in The Hague. From 2002 to 2012 he was director of the Drents Museum in Assen, where he was responsible for the addition of a large underground wing, a new repository and major international exhibitions, including ‘The Terracotta Army of Xian’.
Commercial director
Pien Harms became deputy commercial director of Paleis Het Loo in August 2012 and since February 2020 has held the post of commercial director and manager. She studied cultural anthropology at Leiden University, and has worked in the museum world since 2004, at the Groninger Museum (Diaghilev Festival), the Zuiderzeemuseum in Enkhuizen, and the virtual National Historical Museum, before joining Paleis Het Loo.

The Supervisory Board is responsible for setting salaries and arranging other terms and conditions for the management of Paleis Het Loo. The staff remuneration policy is based on the Museum Association’s collective labour agreement.
