Frans van der Avert, General Director

Frans van der Avert will be director of Paleis Het Loo from 1 August. Until then, he is the owner of Frens & Co: a collective that specializes in strategy issues and marketing and communication challenges, particularly in the cultural and heritage sector.

From 2019 to 2021 he will be director of Soestdijk Palace and responsible for the preparation of the new destination of the Palace. He started his career at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, then became responsible for education and communication at the former Hermitage Amsterdam (now H'ART Museum) and later as director of amsterdam&partners, which focuses on Amsterdam's reputation management.

Pien Harms, Commercial Director

Pien Harms became deputy commercial director of Paleis Het Loo in August 2012 and since February 2020 has held the post of director. She studied cultural anthropology at Leiden University, and has worked in the museum world since 2004, at the Groninger Museum (Diaghilev Festival), the Zuiderzeemuseum in Enkhuizen, and the virtual National Historical Museum, before joining Paleis Het Loo.

As of August 1, the management team and board of Paleis Het Loo constitutes of  Frans van der Avert and commercial director Pien Harms.

The Supervisory Board is responsible for setting salaries and arranging other terms and conditions for the management of Paleis Het Loo. The staff remuneration policy is based on the Museum Association’s collective labour agreement.
