A day out this winter
The most beautifully illuminated palace: inside and out, from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. From the stables square right up to the palace, it’s a festival of lights and decorations. The monumental tree on the stables square is lit up, and the avenue leading from the stables towards the palace is completely lined with Christmas trees. The palace and the bassecour (the forecourt) are beautifully illuminated. The National Christmas Tree sparkles in front of the palace!

A Homely Christmas
Paleis Het Loo has been transformed into a festive Christmas setting. During the winter holidays, our thoughts turn inward, and we prefer to spend Christmas and New Year with family, friends, and the people we hold dear. We gather to eat, share memories, reflect on the past, and look ahead to an as yet unknown future. Good times and bad times: the same is true for the House of Orange.

Winter Palace
The National Christmas Tree
from Thursday 10 December Sunday 3 January, location: on the palace forecourtThe National Christmas Tree will be on the palace forecourt this year, with a red carpet for a warm and festive reception. The lights will stay on every day until 21:00.
The Winter Palace
daily from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., location: the palaceThe rooms will be decorated as they were when our royal residents celebrated Christmas here. The tables will be set with unique dinner services and table decorations. Feast your eyes on the greenery, the delicious treats and festive outfits worn by the Dutch royals. And of course the Christmas trees full of enchanting lights.
Evening opening – enjoy the beautifully lit palace
19, 20, 27 December, 2 and 3 January until 7.00 p.m.Christmas lights look their best in the dark. That’s why the palace also opens its doors in the evening. Make the most of this unique opportunity to see the palace in an atmospheric evening setting.
Sprint and race track
daily from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., location: the stables squareReady, set, go! Race each other on the sprint track for a place on the winners’ podium. Grab a pair of summer skis or a pedalo and race along the track.
Winter Workshop
every weekend from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., location: the homeroomTogether, we’ll transform the homeroom into an ice palace! Cut out the prettiest snowflakes to display at home and in the homeroom. Decorate a crown too, so you can shine just like the Three Kings.
Snowflake game

Make a Ruff!
Daily from 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. during the Christmas holidays, except on 20, 26 and 27 December, in the Grand Foyer, leading to the palaceWould you like to look like people did in the 17th century? Come and make your own ruff! Using paper and scissors, you can create your very own eye-catching accessory. Wear it as you explore, take a photo and put yourself in the spotlight!
